When I graduate in May, I’m taking a backpacking trip across the Pacific Northwest. I will start my trek in Vancouver, British Columbia and finish it in Eureka, California. I can hardly wait. The journey will take from May until September. I won’t be walking in a straight line. Instead, I plan on carrying a large backpack on my back and taking many side excursions into different national parks, national monuments, and national forests. Some of the places I will tour include the following places in Washington State: North Cascade Nation Park, Olympic National Park (where the rainforests are located), Mount Rainer National Park . When I leave Washington, and enter Oregon, I will go to the Columbia river gorge near Portland. From there, I will follow the coast line and visit the Sea Lion Caves, Bandon and finally the great Sand Dunes of Oregon. In California, I will spend several days hiking around Crescent City, California before arriving at the land of the great Redwoods. I expect to be hiking the entire 100 mile stretch of roadway called the Avenue of Giants. Finally, my jaunt will end in Eureka, California.

At present, I am planning and training for the adventure. For Christmas, my mother and father gave me a Swiss Rucksack – the Swiss gear rucksack style is the “Elite, Extra Large 5200 cubic inches”. For training, I’ve been going to LA Fitness. Aside from typical weight and cardio training, I’ve been doing a lot things that have received a lot of regard from other Gold Gym athletes. For example, I walk the treadmill and the stair master while wearing my large rucksack. Also, I wear the large backpack while doing “mountain climber” exercises. Everyone gets a chuckle when they see me strap on the large backpack, but once we get past the apparently essential teasing, there is an appreciation for the Swiss backpack composition and assembly.

The Waveboard is actually a new, rather one of a kind riding system. It’s actually easier to take a look at a picture, than to try and explain it with words.
